Greasy Palms (Alex Duchac)

A coach slips

a referee

a wad of cash.

He collects it

with a practiced hand,

depositing it in his pocket.

A gift

for favorable calls

in the game.

Outrage,

our immediate response,

how can this happen?

But it does, every day,

not only here on the field,

but elsewhere.

An oil company,

with its mountains of cash,

funds a campaign.

The politician, in return,

favors the company,

in the laws.

Where's the outrage;

where's the referee;

where are the masses?

Blow the whistle,

call the foul,

Tell them we won't follow!
